This week at CCSC we are celebrating World Book Day with an array of fun activities to encourage all pupils and staff to get involved and get reading!

We are kicking off the week with a team quiz in the library. Teams of 4-6 players will answer a range of questions, on a variety of topics, to try to win a converted prize. The competition will be intensified as the English Department and English Leaders have already formed their teams. Do you think you have what it takes to take on the pros?

This year we see the return of the popular #BookSelfie. This activity proved to be a hit with pupils and staff last year. All you need to do to get involved is to take a selfie doing some extreme reading! You can either print your photo and hand it to Dawn or tag @ccscbookclub with the hashtag #bookselfie on Instagram. Keeping with the hashtag theme, this year we introduce you to #ShareAStory. This is a short story writing competition. You will need to write a story in just 140 characters. If you are a fan of twitter you are going to love this! Entries for both #competitions need to be completed by Thursday 8th March.

During the week, the library will be the hub of all things World Book Day. Monday and Tuesday next week there will be free entry to come and watch the magical story of Roald Dahl’s ‘Matilda’ unfold and enchant. There is also an opportunity to test your knowledge and take part in individual book quizzes. On Wednesday, the Book Fair is coming! A perfect opportunity for you to spend the £1 voucher you will receive and any £5 reward vouchers you have been stashing. If that wasn’t enough of an incentive to go along and have a nose, then maybe a free raffle will tickle your interest! If you check out one of the books recommended by the English Leaders or Book Club your name will be entered into a prize draw.

To spoil you a little more, we are continuing the tradition of a form quiz! You will be competing in your houses during form time. Your form tutors will go through the quizzes with you and feedback your scores. There are points for the best house and prizes for the best team.
