A new programme of Maths Club activities started on Wednesday 15th January 2014 for year 7 pupils. Year 8 pupils who are already regular attenders at the club helped the year 7 pupils to get started on an exciting range of activities.

The focus for the week was 'Paper Cutting Maths'.

Next they explored the work of Danish artist Peter Callesen who creates sculptures from A4 white paper using precise mathematical techniques. Pupils were particularly impressed with the work entitled 'Thinking Skeleton'.

Finally maths club members took part in a challenge to cut a hole from a single sheet of A4 paper which was large enough for themselves and Mr Wynne to climb through! After lots of experimenting, year 7 pupil, James Hawkins, was the first to work out how to do it.

The year 7 pupils thoroughly enjoyed their first Maths Club session which was delivered by Mrs Tilt, Mr Wynne and Mr Powell.
