The annual Certificate Evening  was held at CCSC on Monday 14th July 2014, following the success of the inaugural event in 2013. Academic prizes were awarded for outstanding achievement in each subject by pupils from years 7 to 10. Sixty six pupils won awards and attended the evening with their parents.

The evening commenced with an address from Mr R Swindells, Associate Headteacher, in which he praised the hard work of all the prize winners. The prizes were presented by the heads of department who gave a short citation for each winner and the audience really appreciated the personal touch in these. Prize winners received scrolls and gift vouchers. A full list of the prize winners can be seen here.

As well as the subject awards one pupil from each year group was awarded the Overall Academic Achievement Award for excellence across the curriculum. The winners of these awards were: Leah Hopwood Year 7, Sam Roberts Year 8Pippa Phillips Year 9 and Jack McDonald Year 10.

Closing remarks and thanks from Mrs L Jackson, Executive Headteacher, concluded the formal part of the evening.

Pupils, parents and staff then enjoyed socialising over drinks and delicious cakes made by the food technology department. There was also the opportunity to view the portrait gallery of all the prize winners in the foyer. The whole evening had a lovely atmosphere with the hall transformed with cabaret style seating, floral displays on the stage and matching table decorations. Many parents commented on how much they had enjoyed the evening.
