During mid March more than 300 Year 5 pupils and their teachers, from across eight local primary schools enjoyed a 'taster day' with us to experience secondary school life. Pupils followed a timetable of exciting and interactive learning covering Science practicals, PE activivities, discovering the History of Medicine and speaking Spanish. They learnt a variety of new skills and gained confidence with high school routines. Each primary school was assisted by some of their own former pupils, now in year 7, who acted as excellent ambassadors and helpers throughout the day, along with other skilled pupils from different year groups.

Primary pupils enjoyed a choice of cooked meals at lunchtime in the school canteen, which along with moving between rooms for their different lessons and trying out new activities, gave them a valuable insight into how a secondary school operates.

At the end of the day pupils asked a variety of questions about moving to secondary school, ranging from exam options to the after school clubs offered. They had both an enjoyable and educational time at Chesterton Community Sports College and took home a Welcome Pack, along with some great experiences preparing them for the big move in just over a year from now..

Parents wishing to tour the school during a working day are welcome to contact  Mrs Stokes, the Headteacher's PA to arrange a suitable time and date. Please telephone our School Office on 01782 568350 if you would like a tour.
