After a short scrutinising and counting session this morning, followed by several minutes of number crunching we have now completed our first analysis point.

After 10 days we were required to calculate the percentage germination for the rocket seedlings.

We can confirm that there is a marked difference between the two sets of seeds with Blue producing 19.1% germination whereas this is trumped by the Red 31.6%! This data will be sent forward to be included in the national database. See the photographs for full data collected for all replicates (trays).

We are still none the wiser as to which seeds have been in space and therefore have they been affected but already speculation is occurring, especially if there continues to be a marked difference between the sets of seeds.

Our next analysis marker takes place next week; currently we need to be observing the growth of the seedlings first true leaves, then on Thursday we will be calculating percentages still alive.
