Chesterton Community Sports College is committed to the principles of Fairtrade.
'Fairtrade is about better prices, decent working conditions, local sustainability, and fair terms of trade for farmers and workers in the developing world.'
We hold a Fairtrade Day every year during Fairtrade Fortnight. This day aims to engage pupils with the idea of buying Fairtrade products and seeing what difference this can make all over the world. Fairtrade is brought into lessons across the curriculum in order to raise awareness. Each year has a theme, such as bananas or chocolate, and this year’s theme will be revealed during the Fairtrade assembly on Monday 29th February 2016.
Miss Collis is the Fairtrade Coordinator and after attending the regional conference in Birmingham she is busy planning a fun-filled and engaging day for all pupils to help them understand how one small choice can change lives.
