At Chesterton Community Sports College we take great pride in the quality of the Initial Teacher Training (ITT) that we provide in partnership with Cheshire East SCITT and Painsley Teaching School Alliance.
We support Trainee Teachers on both the School Direct and the SCITT route. School Direct is a route into teaching which moves the focus of study from a university-based course to a school-based course. The School Direct route enables you to learn to teach, whilst actually doing the job, maximizing the time spent in school. The SCITT route is designed and delivered by groups of neighbouring schools and colleges. Most of the training is delivered in the classroom by experienced teachers. Many schools work in close partnerships with universities for SCITT programmes, enabling Trainee Teachers to gain a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) as well as Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
At CCSC we offer care, support and expertise to our Trainee Teachers, whatever route they take into the profession. Our Subject Mentors are all passionate about providing the very best pedagogical, pastoral and extra-curricular experiences for their Trainees and we welcome them as a member of staff from day one. From the induction process and those first unforgettable hours in front of a class, through every milestone and assessment point and even helping them to secure their first teaching post; we’re here for them.
CCSC is at the centre of our community and the lead school of the Collective Vision Trust, ensuring that all children are provided with the highest standard of education and that they achieve our school value of “Being the Best You Can Be”. As part of our team, Trainee Teachers also have a responsibility to embody these values and inspire our young people.
