jigsawglobeHaving a global dimension to education and links across the international community are very important at CCSC.

We believe it helps pupils to make connections between their own lives and people and places throughout the world. Morever it helps them to explore and develop an understanding of complex global issues such as trade, aid, development and the wide range of varied cultures that make up our world.

This in turn fosters an attitude of tolerance and respect for others.

At CCSC pupils learn about the global community in many ways; via the curriculum, through special events and activities and by means of school visits. The school is also committed to Fairtrade and in April 2014 was awarded the Fair Aware Award.

Every year in December the school holds a World Languages Day which celebrates languages and cultural diversity. In 2013 the theme for World Languages Day was South America. There is also a Fairtrade Day each year during Fairtrade Fortnight and in 2014 the focus was on the banana trade.

Each summer the school runs an overseas residential trip for a week. In 2013 CCSC visited Normandy in France and the 2014 trip was to Barcelona in Spain. For Easter 2015 a visit to Italy with skiing is planned.

The school has also hosted visiting overseas students, most recently from the USA, and several staff have taken part in study tours and conferences abroad which have subsequently enhanced learning for pupils.
