The third annual Certificate Evening was held on Monday 13th July. Pupils, parents and staff came together to celebrate the achievements of pupils across the full range of school subjects in Years 7, 8, 9 and 10.
After a short introduction from Mr R Swindells, Headteacher, the presentations commenced, hosted by Mrs C Tilt.
Each set of subject awards were given by the heads of department who gave short speeches about the prize winners and the audience really appreciated the personal touches and humour in these presentations. The winners received certificates presented as scrolls as well as gift vouchers.
There was a fantastic atmosphere in the very full hall as pupils and their families sat together around the tables and rapturous applause greeted all the winners. After the subject prizes, four additional special awards for outstanding overall academic achievement throughout the year were made. The overall winners were Hollie Middleton, Year 7, Evie Davenport Year 8, Conor Lambert, Year 9 and Hannah Brayford, Year 10.
Mrs L Jackson, Executive Headteacher, closed the presentations by congratulating all the prize winners.
After the formal part of the evening everyone enjoyed tea, coffee, juice and delicious homemade cakes, baked by the food technology department, and there was plenty of opportunity for pupils and parents to chat to staff. The display of photographs of the prize winners in the school foyer proved to be a popular attraction and the plant displays and table decorations all helped to create a lovely atmosphere. Many parents and other guests commented on how much they enjoyed the evening.
Congratulations to all of the pupil prize winners.
