The long awaited Grand Final of Chesterton's Got Talent 2014 was held on Friday 14th February. There was an air of eager anticipation as the whole school and the families of the contestants settled into the hall for the afternoon performance. All of the acts had previously won their heats earlier in the term or were very high scoring runners up and so had been given 'wildcard' entries into the final.

Matthew Chau of Year 8 opened the show with a magnificent performance playing the flute to piano accompaniment.

Saskia Boardman of Year 7; a talented all round  performer who starred in the lead role in Peter Pan at the Stoke Repertory Theatre earlier in the year, sang a very strong solo.

Year 9 Dance group, 'The Belfast Belles' comprising Megan Futter, Darcie Bagguley, Hannah Brayford, Alisha Bourne and Amelia Moody performed a lovely lively dance including elements of Irish Dance and Tap Dance styles.

Alice Jones of Year 11 gave an excellent performance singing with real emotion and feeling which clearly touched the audience.

Jed Dyer of Year 8 and Caitlin Lane Kosturczak of Year 11 performed an exquisite ballet style dance routine incorporating stunning gymnastic moves.

Elizabeth Dunn of Year 8 and Sky Rollings of Year 7 performed fantastically together with Lizzie singing and Sky accompanying her on the guitar.

After each performance the judges (Miss Owen, Mr Maxted and Miss Machin) gave their feedback but it was up to the audience vote to decide the winner. Voting slips were quickly collected in and whilst they were being counted the audience enjoyed three entertaining staff acts. Mr Kelsall and Mr Mackin performed a song from the hit musical 'Grease'. Miss Beech, Miss Grocott and Miss Griffiths (aka The Delinquent Students) performed a hilarious routine to the song 'Teacher, Teacher' and Mr Young performed some magic tricks aided by glamorous assistant, Mrs J Rowley.

Then the student performers all gathered on the stage for the announcement of the winner. Ms Flavell opened the envelope to reveal that the winner of Chesterton's Got Talent 2014 was Year 11 Student Alice Jones. Alice was presented with the CGT Trophy to rapturous applause from the audience.

Mrs L Jackson, Executive Headteacher, echoed everyone's thoughts when she commented on what an enjoyable afternoon it had been and what an excellent end to the half term it was.
