Miss Harvey and four Year 7 boys attended the Salters' Festival of Chemistry at Keele University on Wednesday 30th April 2014.
The boys were able to use a brand new, state of the art lab to perform interesting and fun experiments in this annual competition.
We made 'Sugar Rainbows' by changing the density of water and in the 'Soapy Science' activity, the boys tested various soaps and produced a fantastic poster advertising their own brand of soap, 'Sparkle Chesterton'.
We watched amazing demonstrations and had to decide what sort of energy was given out. The 'Howling Jelly Baby' produced a high pitched scream as well as a brilliant white light and lots of heat. The 'Elephants Toothpaste' created a huge column of coloured bubbles and a very strange smell!
The day finished with a prize giving ceremony and the boys came a fantastic 2nd out of 8 schools.
The boys involved were Ben Fitchett, Ben Downs, Josh Wilton and Oaklan Holdcroft.
