Totally Awesome English
Students from Year 9 were treated to a round-robin of activities today at Keele University’s ‘Totally Awesome English’. Pupils learned about ‘erasure’ poetry, using creative methods to pick out key words from the text. Next up, was a thrilling criminal ‘whodunnit’ using different reading skills to identify the guilty suspect. Following the action-packed morning of creative word-design and CSI-style solving, pupils then explored the art of storytelling. To finish the day, cultural writing was examined and students tackled the challenging ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’ as part of their task. The year 9 students are to be commended on their behaviour and conduct: they represented CCSC wonderfully.
