On Wednesday 28th February, we celebrated our annual Fairtrade Day. The theme this year was “Come on In”. The theme is designed to encourage people to open the doors to the factories and farms that make our food and everyday items and see what their lives are like. We explored this by playing a board game about the lives of the farmers at the Coobana Co-operative in Panama. We also had fun at the “banana bar” by sprinkling our bananas with various Fairtrade toppings such as meringues, honey and granola. As part of our exploration of the Fairtrade banana business we had a few games of pin the banana on the tree too! Staff and pupils really enjoyed trying the Fairtrade products available and were keen to get involved in all of the activities. A big thank you to the Co-op in Chesterton and Morrisons in Newcastle for supplying our Fairtrade products.
