magicsquaresYear 7 pupils have recently completed a unit of work on 'Magic Maths'.

In this topic they investigated the properties of magic squares which are square arrays of numbers in which every row, column and diagonal add up to the same value.

 

 

 

magicsquaresboysMagic squares were first discovered in China around 4000 years ago and they have featured in many different cultures since. The year 7 pupils explored magic squares from Egypt, India, China and South America and created a display of their multicultural maths work.

 

 

 

magicsquaresgirlsSome year 7 groups went on to learn about magic circles too and explored the patterns created by sets of numbers on diameters and rings.
