It was the annual Sports Day at CCSC on Friday 4th July 2014. Please scroll down for photo gallery.
This unique event organised by the PE department sees the four houses; Bannister, Elgar, Newton and Shakespeare, compete in a very wide range of activities as well as traditional athletics. The competitive activities included: trampolining, football, chess, draughts, rounders, basketball, table tennis, wii sports, netball, swimming, fun athletics, sports quiz, tug of war and aquazumba. Aquazumba was a new event for 2014 and this energetic pool based exercise routine proved highly with both pupils and staff.
The four house captains play a major role in the organisation of sports day as well as leading and motivating their respective houses. Megan Montford (Bannister), William Myatt (Elgar), Jack McDonald (Shakespeare) and Reece Mercer (Newton) were all outstanding in their house captain roles throughout the day.
With results from all the activities coming in throughout the day, the point scores were very close at lunchtime and the teams began the afternoon session with everything still to play for. By 2:30pm the final results were in and the whole school went into 'Champions Assembly' to find out which house would emerge victorious. The assembly started with other sports awards including the highly prestigious annual 'Commitment to Sport' award which was won by Megan Montford.
After a tense wait Mr Maxted finally opened the envelope containing the Sports Day results to reveal that the winner of Sports Day 2104 was Shakespeare House.
Jack McDonald proudly lifted the coveted trophy for his house.
Congratulations to Shakepeare House and well done to all the pupils who took part.
