The Year 10 girls squad finished 2nd overall behind Newcastle under Lyme to cap some stunning performances. Natasha Futter dominated her events taking gold in the 200m and long jump and silver in the 100m. Beth Chell won a bronze in the 300 metres. But it was the consistently high performances across all the events that won the girls runners up. Camille Hargreaves was 4th in the long jump and 7th in the high jump, Jam Farrell was 7th in the 200 metres, Beth McFarlane 6th in the hurdles and Masie booth 7th in the shot putt.
In the Under 15 girls there were more medals to bring them 4th overall. Beth Kosturczak won bronze in the discus and just missed out with 4th place in the long jump, just pipped by fellow team mate Paige Taylor who won the bronze. Nadine Tomkinson won a third bronze for the team by finishing 3rd in the 1500m. Ellie Brayford and Macy Isherwood both made the final of the 200m and finished 7th and 8th respectively, Becky Dunnett was 6th in the 100m final, Lauren McDonald 8th in the 800m and Emilia Lisocka 5th in the shot putt and 8th in the javelin.
The boys under 17 squad didn’t disappoint either. Tom Lomax won gold in the 800m for the 4th year in a row and backed it up with 8th in the triple jump. Bradley Reynolds also completed his hat trick of titles by winning gold in the 400m for the third year in succession. Nathan Breeze competed in three finals; finishing 4th in the long jump, 6th in the 100m and 7th in the hurdles. As a combined score the U17 lads finished 5th overall.
And finally the under 15 boys. Matthew Malkin followed up his cross country season in which he competed at the All England Championships with a bronze in the 1500m. Whilst no further medals followed there were places taken in the finals. Tom Evenson had a satisfactory day with 5th in the 100m, 6th in the 800m and 8th in the long jump. Daniel Keen finished two places behind Matt in the 1500m with a 5th placed finish. Jason Gajewski made it to the final of the 400m and finished a respectable 6th, Jack Green threw the discus far enough to take 8th place and Seb Chell finished likewise 8th in the hurdles. The U15 lads finished the day 5th overall out of the ten schools that competed.
