The U16 basketball team retained the County Cup last night beating St John Fisher 49-28 in a feisty match at Newcastle College. The girls were terrific and the finishing of Beth Kosturczak in particular meant a comfortable victory for the girls by over 20 points; Beth herself scoring 25 of the points.
The girls now progress as the Staffordshire representatives in to the Midland play-off rounds of the National Competition.
In the sports hall athletics we were successful too. The Y8 boys team finished District runners-up in 2nd place with some exceptional performances from Tyler Christer in particular who led the team well.
Thea Sherlock-Hammond won all of her events to take the Y8 girls to 5th in their competition, the Year 7 boys 3rd with Alfie Johnstone the star in their team this year. Y7 girls were 4th with strong performances from Bryant Oxford.
They were a credit to the school.
